Alice Deejay Tribute

Alice DeeJay was a Dutch Eurodance group from Amsterdam formed in 1998. The group was founded by Dutch Company Violent Music. They are best known for their 1998 single, "Better Off Alone", which was a worldwide success. They disbanded in 2002.

The group consisted of successful record producers Danski (Born Dennis van den Driesschen), Delmundo (a.k.a. Wessel van Diepen), their protégés Pronti (Sebastiaan Molijn), Kalmani (Eelke Kalberg), DJ Jurgen and face and lead singer Judith Anna Pronk. They also had background dancers: Mila Levesque and Angelique Versnel. Versnel began her education as a dancer at the School of Performing Arts in Los Angeles, United States. After completing four years at the dance academy (as well as high school study) at Alvin Aley in New York, she became a part of Alice Deejay.
1999-2001: Formation and Who Needs Guitars Anyway?

Alice DeeJay launched their career in July 1998 with the single, "Better Off Alone", credited to DJ Jurgen presents Alice DeeJay. In the UK, the song went platinum and reached number 2 on the UK Singles Chart, and number 3 on the US Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play, also reaching number 27 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Alice Deejay achieved success with the follow-up single "Back In My Life" in November of the same year. The group's first and only album was Who Needs Guitars Anyway?, which was released on April 11, 2000. It entered the Top Ten of the UK Albums Chart.

Alice Deejay Full Album

Alice DeeJay made the UK Top 20 with three more tracks: "Will I Ever", "The Lonely One" and "Celebrate Our Love", although each single's chart position was lower than its predecessors.

Judith Anna Pronk (born, 8 December 1973) is a female singer/DJ, and make-up artist. She is best known for being the lead singer/dancer of Dutch Eurodance group Alice Deejay.

Pronk began displaying her talents at the age of six when she took up ballet but, by age 18, she became involved with the Dutch club scene, where she added vocalist and DJ duties to her resume.

She hooked up with DJ Tempo and the team of Danski & Delmondo from the Vengaboys to transform the vision of Alice DeeJay into reality, resulting in the international club smash, "Better Off Alone". The then dance tune (Now classic Trance tune) was a big hit across Europe, especially in the United Kingdom where it reached number 2 on the UK Singles Chart. This was where she achieved her biggest successes as four more tracks followed, all from the album, Who Needs Guitars Anyway?: "Back In My Life" (#4), "Will I Ever" (#7), "The Lonely One" (#16) and "Celebrate Our Love" (#17).

Pronk (as part of Alice DeeJay) was also successful in the United States, where "Better Off Alone" reached number 3 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Club Play, number 12 on the Rhythmic Top 40, and number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in the spring of 2000. Although "Better Off Alone" and the album Who Needs Guitars Anyway did well in the US, they were relegated to the rank of one-hit wonders, even though follow-up single "Back In My Life" also entered the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, peaking at #27 in the fall of 2000.

In 2002, the act made their final appearance together in a live concert in Utrecht.

After the group went their separate ways, Pronk decided to move on to other ventures by putting her music career aside to become a make-up artist and beauty/fashion consultant.
